After its grand opening in
September 1963,
Mandarin
Oriental, Hong Kong quickly became recognised
as one of the most prestigious Hotels of the World. The concept was to create a Hotel
firmly rooted in Eastern culture, providing gracious service to a standard

experienced in Asia, while incorporating sophisticated and modern amenities as required
by discerning International travellers. The
Hotel is owned by Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, the award-winning International
Hotel
company which operates 20

countries.
The Hotel was designed and
constructed by Leigh and Orange, one of the oldest architectural firms
in Hong Kong, while the interior decor is largely the work of Don Ashton. The
Hotel houses an important
and impressive collection of antiques, pieces of which are displayed throughout
the property and in some of the larger Suites.
