Udaipur (City of Sunrise) is the capital of the erstwhile kingdom of Mewar, one of the oldest surviving dynasties in the world and was established around 1567 A.D. Legend has it that the royal Rajput rulers are descended from the Sun God. The golden sun, representing the Sun God, is still the royal insignia of the Maharana of Mewar and a recurring motif in the design of The Oberoi Udaivilas.

The chequered history of Mewar is showcased in the city of Udaipur, which is akin to an oasis in the desert state of Rajasthan. It is a rich and beguiling tapestry of lakeside palaces, forts, temples, havelis and luxurious gardens, reflecting the varied influences of the intervening centuries.

The Oberoi Udaivilas is located on the banks of Lake Pichola and is a 40 minute-drive from Udaipur's Dabok airport. The Superior Deluxe Rooms have a semi-private infinity edge Swimming Pool off their Balconies, in addition to a private relaxation and dining pavilion. The Suites have private Swimming Pools and dining pavilions for dining and relaxation. All rooms are in excess of 550 sq ft.

Deluxe Rooms The Deluxe Rooms are spacious and elegantly appointed with exquisitely designed furniture, hand knotted carpets and fine Indian works of art. Each Room features a Seating Area and outdoor terrace. Luxurious marble Bathrooms have Victorian freestanding Bathtubs, Separate Shower stalls and private walled courtyards. Superior Deluxe Rooms The Superior Deluxe Rooms have access to a semi-private infinity edge Swimming Pool off their balconies, in addition to a private relaxation and dining pavilion. The Rooms overlook Lake Pichola and the City Palace. Some overlook a conservatory that houses Indian spotted deer, wild boar and peacocks. All Rooms feature a personal Bar, Tea and Coffee Maker, Telephone with data port, Satellite Television, compact and Digital Video player and an Electronic Safe.

Deluxe Suites The Deluxe Suites feature a 10-metre private Swimming Pool and a Private outdoor dining and relaxation pavilion, with views of the lake and City Palace. The suites have a Living Room, Luxurious marble Bathrooms and Steam Showers.

The Oberoi Udaivilas has Two Restaurants, SuryaMahal and UdaiMahal, serving fine Indian and Continental cuisine.

• Udaimahal , the specialty Indian Restaurant, offers traditional Rajasthani and North Indian cuisine and its special menu have been developed following meticulous research in the traditional royal kitchens of Rajasthan.
