known, landed at Layan Beach on the northwestern coast of the island. The gently
sloping beach was in a cove well-protected from the open sea and so secluded
from the rest of the island that whole fleets hid there without being detected.
Unfortunately for them, however, the brave islanders put up a fight and the
attackers were defeated.
