Golf
The golf course at Quinta da Marinha has 18 holes with 5.870 metres of
unadulterated nature surroundings and major challenges.
Designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones Senior, this par 71 was
great views to Atlantic Ocean and Sintra Mountains.
The area, Lisbon Golf Coast, won the IAGTO Award in 2007 -
Best Established Golfing Destination Europe. Challenge your friends for
a little play-off or enjoy the services of our resident PGA Pro. The
main thing is to practice your sport of choice in gorgeous natural
surroundings.
Professional Competitons at Quinta da Marinha Golf Course:
- In 1988, Ladies Masters, a test which formed part of the Women's
Professional European Circuit.
It was won by the South African Laurette Maritz-Atkins.
- In October 2002, PGA Seniors Tour Championship, winner was
England's Denis Durnian with -5.
Tournament was decided after dramatic sudden-death play-off at the
10th. Denis Durnian faced Ireland's, former Ryder Cup star, Eamonn
Darcy that conceded after hitting just one shot on the first hole of
the play-off.
One of the stars of the week was Ireland's Christy O'Connor Jr,
finishing in the top 15th.
- In June 2007, Challenge Tour won by England’s Ross McGowan.
Former Ryder Cup player Peter Baker, was leading after 3 rounds but
couldn’t resist to McGowan’s fantastic final round of 66.
McGowan finished at 12 under par, 272, and three strokes clear of
Welshman Stuart Manley, who closed with a 68.
