Arlberg Hospiz Hotel
Hotel Overview
Winter style on top. From a simple hostel to the super Animations Hotel. A
picture-book success story. The cult of the Austrian food scene partout. Snowed
under with prizes and awards, but not resting on its laurels. Quality that's a
way of life and that is continuously enhanced. And the best thing about it all
is that the focus remains on the individual person. The most important part of
all this is the guest. You. And not all the rest of it. The staff is willing and
helpful, friendly and natural, not pushy. An atmosphere loved by high society.
Almost the hotel anticipate your every wish in a fashion that has no equal, with
taste and style, the flair of the insiders and those in the know. Ideal for the
contemporary ski dandy or the Grande dame on the piste, who wants to enjoy the
very special, typical fun with her family in the evening. You're in the right
place if you really belong or want to belong.
HistoryThe Hospiz and its chapel were built in 1386 by Henry the Foundling
from Kempten. He was shepherd and
provided shelter to weary travellers crossing the mountains.
In 1954 Arnold Ganahl bought the building. He sent the employees of his
spinning factories to the Arlberg for rest and relaxation - skiing was just
beginning to catch on at that time. When the building burned down on the night
of January 6, 1957, he rebuilt it as the first five-star hotel on the Arlberg,
with showers and WCs in every room. Arnold Ganahl's daughter Gerda Werner took
over the management of the hotel in 1961. In 1964 she married Adolf Werner, and
together they created the beautiful hotel located in the center of St.
Christoph.
In 1997 Florian Werner took over from his father as the 33rd owner of the Hospiz
Hotel. On January 3, 1901, the Skiclub Arlberg was founded within the solid
walls of the Hospiz.
