Goldener Berg Hotel

The Pfefferkorn family welcomes you to the Goldener Berg. The only people who come here are those who are really high fliers, those who know no limits, who love and want to enjoy the snow and the freedom. This is an auto-free zone in the midst of the skiing area. Remember, here you leave your cares behind, your children are on an adventure holiday, and you are here to enjoy pure relaxation.

History

The hotel was initially established in 1432 by poor highland farmers. In 1965 the ruins were bought by the established innkeeper family Pfefferkorn who rebuilt it to original plans.

During winter, the 4-star superior Goldener Berg hotel is situated right on the piste (ski in – ski out) in car free Oberlech, while in the summer it is ideally located for hiking in Arlberg in Oberlech.

The 40 rooms and suites of the hotel are all either newly built or renovated and provide a modern alpine ambience for the hotel residents.

The hotel’s Kiddy Club looks after the younger guests during the day (from 9:00 to 13:00 and from 16:00 to 21:00). It offers fantastic activities such as climbing, walks by torchlight, fishing, adventure camps and evening shows to ensure that younger guests don’t get bored.

The Alpin Spa offers guests a range of various saunas, relaxation rooms and fitness activities, as well as a fresh spa pool, an outdoor whirlpool, a solarium and a separate area for massage, body baths, face and body packs and beauty treatments. The hotel’s own product line, “almstern”, is based on edelweiss extract and also contains other nurturing substances from the mountains.

The hotel provides a diverse range of sporting activities for guests, such as skiing, snowshoeing, Nordic walking, mountain biking and more. It also spoils its guests with international and local culinary delights. The programme is rounded off with seminars for expanding the mind and for improving culinary skills and knowledge. Its primary goal is to ensure that we provide attentive and friendly service at all times – and many regular guests confirm that we really provide a feelgood atmosphere!

The award-winning cuisine can be enjoyed in four different restaurants.

•  6-course menu in the Panorama restaurant
•  3-course Austrian menu in the Bergstüberl restaurant
•  3-course gourmet menu in the Johannesstübli restaurant, which is rated with two chef’s toques
•  3-course menu in the traditional rooms of the Alter Goldener Berg restaurant

The extensive wine cellar provides a choice of more than 900 different wines and wine tasting is also on offer.

Guests can treat themselves in the various restaurants from 07:00 to 22:30 every day.

•  When the weather is fine, the sun terraces of the various restaurants are open between 1 pm and 5 pm. Here the hotel serves Austrian dishes as well as international gourmet dishes in the Gourmet Corner. 
• The Johannesstübli restaurant, a long-time holder of the Gault Millau chef’s toque award, is open from 19.00 to 22.30 and offers set menus from all over the world with wines selected to match each course provided by the glass.
•  The Alter Goldener Berg restaurant is open to skiers and gourmets alike from 11:00 to 22.30 every day. In the afternoons we invite you to après ski, sometimes with live music from the Sterntaler, and in the evenings we offer fondue specialities and Austrian delicacies. We pride ourselves on our excellent service.
•  In the sampling wine cellar you can arrange your own private wine-tasting sessions, and we can take care of the accompanying paperwork for you. 
• The hotel bar is open to guests from 11:00 to 24:00 every day and offers international cocktails as well as the finest local specialities.
