Location
The Evian Royal Ermitage, one of the most exclusive 42-acre estates in the
world, is situated on the south shores of Lake Geneva and at the foot of the
French Alps, overlooking Switzerland, only 45 minutes from Geneva Airport. At the
Evian Royal Resort, you will be captivated by the unique charm of the Hotel
Ermitage.
The Hotel Ermitage was built in 1908 – 1909 by the architect “Martinet”
on the beautiful height of Evian next to the last stop of the funicular (today
full restored). It is located on the “plateau des Mateirons” at a height of
125 meters above the lake. Built like a chalet with English-normandy-savoy style
it has 3 floors with galleries opening on the lake and a savoy style roof.
As soon as it opened the Hotel Ermitage welcomed a sophisticated clientele of
dukes, counts and renowned families such as the Schlumbergers, the Singers or
the countess of Castellane…Today it is a grand and elegant country residence
offering 91 rooms and suites all decorated with wooden painted furniture.
