Pollonia, or Apollonia, is a traditional fishermen village in the north-east side of the island that was named after the temple of Apollo that existed in the area.
At a distance of merely 10km from Adamas, the port of the island, and 12km from Plaka, its capital, our small and beautiful village can guarantee you peacefulness, relaxation and everything that can make your holiday dreamy, providing first and foremost a sandy beach, with salt cedars for shade, for your daily swim. The distance between Pollonia and Adamas by car would take one by car one 10 minutes and 12 minutes for the distance between Pollonia and Plaka.
In our village you can find anything a visitor can ask for, like a bakery, supermarket, pharmacy and cafés by the sand, along with the best fish taverns and restaurants of the island, right next to the seafront, where the waves give their last splash. Moreover, at a distance of 50m from the centre of the village, there a diving centre with personnel with many years of experience, which can take you to explore the underwater wanders of our island.
Fishermen arrive everyday at the dock of the small port with their boats packed with fresh fish and visitors of our village can buy them directly.
In the west and east end of the village respectively there are two beautiful small churches with view over the infinite blue of the sea; one is Saint Paraskevi and the other one, a smaller chapel, is Saint Nicolas, lying at the end of the settlement of Pelekouda.
From Pollonia you also have the chance to visit Kimolos with a small ferry that runs regularly during the day to and from the small island across, which is ideal for a day visit.
