Arriving in
"Villa Nireas"
, the visitor comes
across a fascinating bay, well protected, separated to three smaller
sandy beaches by little capes, low hills and rocks, which form the
successive beaches of Psarou, Platys Gialos and Aghia Anna and discern
them from the more remote beach of Paraga at the Cafe Cape.
Not only nature, but people have taken care so that the settlement
contributes to the harmony of the landscape. Despite the intense
touristic development, the settlement has preserved some of the
features of the old agricultural character it used to have: cultivation
extended on terraces climb the slopes of the hills, the characteristic
reed – beds at the small gorges, the gardens and trees discarded here
and there make an idyllic environment and give the promise of
relaxation and calm. Being one of the oldest and more developed
beaches, Platys Gialos is well organized, offering good accommodation,
several choices for food and amusement, sea sports and car and
motorbike rental; it is suitable both for families and young tourists
and very popular to all categories of visitors.
