Alykes is a developed tourist resort, mostly for the people that seek relaxing, quality vacations. The long, sandy beach is always crystal-clear due to the geographical location. The beach is also fine for children and can be accessed easily, since almost every local road leads to some part of it.
The name of the area, "Alykes", is due to the saltworks there, near the beach. The area has everything a visitor may need. The busy center area gradually gets replaced by the more quiet "suburbs".
