Transportation
The Hotel Principe di Savoia is centrally located in the business
centre of Milan, close to many museums and elegant shopping districts, and is
easily accessed from all parts of the city.
By Air
Milan has two airports, both used by domestic and international traffic.
Malpensa is the main airport and is 50 kilometers north-east of the city (50
minutes from the hotel). There are connections via bus and trains to the
Stazione Centrale and by the new FNME train, the Malpensa Express. If you are
traveling on the Milano Ferrovie Nord, the early morning and late evening
services are replaced by a bus from Via Leopardi, just to the left of the
station.
Milan's other airport, Linate, is just seven kilometers from the city centre (20
minutes from the hotel). There are special airport buses at the air terminal on
Piazza Luigi di Savoia, on the east side of Stazione Centrale. ATM urban
transport buses also run every ten minutes from 5:30 am until around midnight
between Linate and Piazza San Babila in the city centre. There is also a twice-daily
connecting bus service between Linate and Malpensa, a 75-minute journey.
By Train
Most international and domestic trains arrive at the main Stazione Centrale (five
minutes from the hotel), north-east of the city centre on Piazza Duca d'Aosta,
at the hub of the metro network on lines MM2 and MM3. Quite a few trains,
especially those from stations in the Milan region - Bergamo, Pavia, Como and
the other western lakes - terminate at Garibaldi, Lambrate, Porta Genova and
Nord, all on MM2 (the metro stop for Milan Nord is Cadorna), although these
often also stop at Centrale.
By Car
The city is encircled by a multi-laned toll road, the Tangenziale, from which
there are links onto the motorways for Venice and Turin (A-4), Genoa (A-7), and
the Autostrada del Sole (A-1) for Bologna, Florence, Rome and the south. The
hotel is 15 minutes from the highway.
Food & Beverages
Hotel Principe di Savoia lavishes discerning palates with a variety of
gourmet dining experiences. The five-star Acanto is celebrated for impeccable
cuisine. Enjoy a relaxing breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea at the Lobby Lounge,
which also offers all-day dining, or opt for the intimate atmosphere of the
Giardino d'Inverno Bar.
Acanto Restaurant
Opened in May 2006 another absolute innovation: a new veranda and restaurant
entirely integrated with the inside dining room of the Galleria restaurant.
Elegantly refurbished in its design, materials and color scheme, and with a new
independent entrance. The architecture of the veranda conceived by Celeste
Dell'Anna Design, enhances the view to the garden, an ideal solution for
pleasant dining. During the day the light comes from a transparent
octagonal-shaped cupola fit to feel immersed in nature, and the atmosphere
becomes magical in the evening when the garden lights up. The style will be both
contemporary and refined, with walls of natural beige fabric and the use of two
different kinds of woods. Lighting the room will be a series of glass
chandeliers from Murano, expressly designed by Dell'Anna using as inspiration
the great masters of the 1900s.
The menu is classic Italian cuisine, its flavors exalted by the talent of the
Chef who combines a lightness of touch with newly gauged cooking times and
presents dishes of high aesthetic value.
The primary inspiration for The Acanto menu has been the local Lombard
culinary tradition, which the Chef has melded with flavors from the
Mediterranean and beyond to create delicate dishes infused with a world of
flavour. Nothing but the finest of fresh seasonal fare is used throughout.
Lobby Lounge
The Lobby Lounge at the Hotel Principe di Savoia is an elegant café
specializing in delicious pastries, traditional English afternoon teas and
informal, but nonetheless high quality, à la carte all-day dining. The room
recaptures the stylistic and architectural theme of Milan at the turn of the
century. A perfect continuation of the bar, it retains the characteristic
concept of a winter garden with boiserie and magnificent, hand-painted
decorations of springtime motifs and picture windows overlooking the lovely
Italian garden.
An informal venue for breakfast or a light lunch buffet, served Monday to
Friday. Afternoon tea and an à la carte menu are available all day.
Giardino d' Inverno Bar
The Principe di Savoia's bar is a winter garden that envelops its guests in a
sumptuous atmosphere with a baroque flavor, featuring variegated marble,
crystal, exquisite fabrics and a colored glass dome ceiling. Giardino d'Inverno
is an elegant, exclusive meeting place with an intimate salon, a quiet corner
where you can meet for coffee, or at cocktail time, sip the specialties prepared
by the bartender. Enjoy a relaxing moment in the evening, enhanced by discreet
melodies from the piano.
Afternoon Tea at the Principe
Finding time for yourself is the greatest luxury these days. Acknowledging
this fact, the Hotel Principe proposes a daily Afternoon Tea, a refined break in
the day to rediscover the quality of life. Held in the elegant hotel bar every
day from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm, Afternoon Tea is a sophisticated voyage through the
aromas and flavours of 24 of the world's most illustrious teas.
