The Antinori family, famous for its wine production, has the pleasure of offering special guests the opportunity to experience country life on their estates in the heart of the Chianti Classico region.

The proximity of both Florence and Siena, the beauty of the Chianti countryside, and the possibility of a wide range of eno-gastronomical delights coupled with the richness of these sought-after surroundings and the particular care the owners put into hospitality make Fonte de’ Medici an incredibly "special choice for special stays".

Fonte de’ Medici is comprised of three clusters of wholly restructured and newly equipped farmhouses surrounded by vineyards. The name itself goes back to 1400 when travelers between Florence and Siena would rest and drink from the spring that still passes through the village of Santa Maria a Macerata before continuing on their journey to the nearby Badia a Passignano, then a powerful Benedictine monastery.

Santa Maria a Macerata today houses the reception and common areas: swimming pool, restaurant, conference room, wellness center, tennis and several apartments.

The other two farmhouses, Podere Tignanello and Podere Vivaio, are located on the hill facing Santa Maria and are easily reached by following a picturesque country road that intersects the vineyards.

Each of the charming apartments is named after grape or olive varieties, reminding one of being in one of the most famous wine and olive oil producing areas in the world.

How to reach Fonte de' Medici:

Freeway (superstrada) Firenze-Siena, directions Siena, exit "Tavarnelle Val di Pesa" then proceed in direction Sambuca, Fabbrica: turn the second street on your right. Then in directions Fabbrica, Montefiridolfi and Antinori Estates (the first on the left ).

After about 2 kms, arriving at the STOP turn right, you'll enter in Via Santa Maria a Macerata.

Trattoria della Fonte

At the Trattoria, in an informal and cozy atmosphere, a wide range of typical dishes from the Chianti area is served, particularly simple and at the same time with traditional flavors and aromas:

Tuscan canapes, salami of "Cinta Senese" (local speciality), Chianina beef on the grill, Chianti potroast, cheeses from Pienza, typical Florentine "schiacciata" , and homemade cakes.

The Trattoria proposes a rich selection at a fixed price, ideal for lunch or Sunday brunch, but also à la carte choices.

The Trattoria della Fonte is a must at the re-entry from a hike through the Chianti hills, or after a Sunday stroll in Spring time up to the lake Buca del Granchio, savoring the view of the vineyards and surrounding woods.

The fresh ingredients create dishes perfectly matching the wines from Antinori. The chique country atmosphere and the friendly hospitality make the Trattoria della Fonte the ideal place for special dinners, but also ideal for snacks of cold cuts and cheese, or wine tastings with samples of some ot the best food from this area.
