The strategic position of Relais della Rovere
makes it an ideal place from which to visit Tuscany’s
more interesting tourist and cultural destinations.
It is surrounded by a large park which boasts of a travertine
swimming
pool from which enchanting panorama of Colle Val d’Elsa
may be enjoyed.
HistoryRelais della Rovere is named after
its most illustrious owner Cardinal Giuliano della
Rovere, who later became Pope
Giulio II, patron of artists of the calibre of Michelangelo
and Raffaello.
The building is the result of the careful restoration of an 11th
century Benedictine Abbey and of the renaissance Villa commissioned by
Giuliano della Rovere in 1470.
