History

Relais della Rovere is named after its most illustrious owner Cardinal Giuliano della Rovere, who later became Pope Giulio II, patron of artists of the calibre of Michelangelo and Raffaello.

The building is the result of the careful restoration of an 11th century Benedictine Abbey and of the renaissance Villa commissioned by Giuliano della Rovere in 1470.

Relais della Rovere is located between Siena and Florence, namely Colle Val d'Elsa and Monteriggioni in the Chianti area, in "Località La Badia" near Colle Val d'Elsa.

Food & Beverages

In the cellars of the villa the Restaurant-Wine Bar “Il Cardinale” offers traditional Tuscan cooking accompanied by a wide selection of Italian wines.

During summer evenings dinner is served in the outside patio, in a romantic candle-lit atmosphere.
