Waldhotel National
Hotel Overview
The Waldhotel National was opened at the end of the 19th century as a nursing centre and sanatorium in Arosa.
In 1910, it became a hospital for lung patients. One of the most famous guests of that time was the writer Thomas Mann. It was there where he began to write the famous ' Zauberberg '.
From 1938-1954 the Waldhaus was used as a military base hospital for the Swiss Confederation.
In 1962, the Waldhotel was for the first time run as real profit centre.
In 1982, the enterprise was converted into a corporation and since 1992, the majority of the shares have been in the possession of Mr. Andy Abplanalp.
Location
The Waldhotel National stands in its own grounds surrounded by enormous pines, but just five minutes walk from the heart of the village. Direct access to the ski piste. For walkers, the paths start right outside the front door.
