the 5 star Hotel and Club, offers you a spectacular location, a short drive or

A truly international resort, Bovey Castle welcomes everyone and also
offers the advantages of membership to its own private club which will be
twinned with the new golf and sporting club; The Abaco Club, on Winding Bay,
Abaco, in the Bahamas, with its own 2½ miles of pink sand beach. The Bovey
Castle set within the romantic splendour of England's most beautiful and
largest National Park.
HistoryBovey Castle was built in 1906 under the ownership of
Viscount Hambledon, son of the business baron WH Smith who was also First Sea
Lord of the Admiralty. As is evidences today, no expense was spared in either
the scale or the quality of craftsmanship, creating an exceptional country home
with grand oak panelled drawing rooms, large open fire- places, ornate broad
stairways and magnificent oak panelled Great Hall, opening onto the stone
balustraded garden terraces.
An internationally renowned and historic Championship Golf Course was built
in 1926, which is currently being fully restored and will re- open for play in
June 2004.
Location
Bovey Castle is set within 368 square miles of the Dartmoor National
Park, about 150 miles south west of London in the glorious county of Devon, 17
miles from Exeter, 35 miles from Plymouth and 85 miles from Bristol.
Rooms
Bovey Castle offers 65 individually designed Rooms, state
Rooms and Private Lodges, styled with the simplicity and cool stylishness of the
golden era, provide for comfortable and elegant accommodation throughout.
Luxurious linens, fresh flowers, and chic toiletries complement an ambience of
informal sophistication.
The Castle has also several unique staterooms from both the traditional to the
exceptional Chairman's Suites with far-reaching views of the moors.
The Bedrooms and Bathrooms enjoy a variety of views and are looked after
twice daily by cheerful house staff who provide a friendly and attentive
service.

Food & Beverages
The ambience of bygone days combines with meticulous service and fresh
organic Devonian produce to provide an exciting dining experience. The Grand
Terrace, on sunny days, is the perfect place for outdoor dining.
Enjoy one of a 150 historic cocktails in the lively Oak Room
and Piano Bar each evening to the sounds of the resident
pianist.
Enjoy visiting the Bovey Wine Cellars with its eclectic mix
of old and New World wines. The Hotel's knowledgeable Sommelier will guide your
selection or help you organise a private wine tasting.
The Castle’s main Dining Room is equally impressive, in
the style of an original 1920’s art deco Palm Court, with chinoiserie
hand-painted wall coverings, the ambience combines the feeling of bygone days
and meticulous service.
A number of the Reception Rooms are available for private dining. The
atmosphere is elegant and highly luxurious with the finest linen and glassware,
specially commissioned to complement the decor.
